New thresholding methodology published
A new methodology for image thresholding has been recently proposed and published in Knowledge Based Systems: "A local fuzzy thresholding methodology for multiregion image segmentation". The methodology overcomes the common drawbacks of thresholding methods when images are corrupted with artifacts and noise. It is based on relating each pixel in the image to different output centroids via a fuzzy membership function, avoiding any initial hard decision.
LPI at the ISBI 2015
The LPI was present in 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), hold last April at Brooklyn, NY. ISBI is a joint initiative of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). A communication was sent following one of the reserach lines of the group (MRI noise analysis), entitled Blind Estimation of Spatially Variant Noise in GRAPPA MRI.
DTI study of ADHD recently published
New findings about ADHD and medication has been published in Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry: "Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and medication with stimulants in young children: A DTI study". These findings may help elucidate the nature of white matter alterations in ADHD, their relationship with symptoms and the effects of treatment with psychostimulants.
